Tumors

Tumors of the hand or wrist occur when an abnormal lump appears near to the hand or wrist area. Tumors can appear on the surface level of the skin, as a mole or wart, or underneath the skin in the soft tissue.

Despite being called a tumor, not all hand and wrist tumors are malignant or cancerous. In general, most hand and wrist tumors are benign (that is, not cancerous). Common symptoms include pain in the affected area that may worsen with movement, swelling around the tumor, weakness in the fingers or wrist, and numbness in the hand.
