Bursitis

Bursitis refers to the inflammation or irritation of the bursa, a fluid-filled sac located in each shoulder. Bursitis of the shoulder is commonly brought on by an injury, overuse of the shoulder, or medical problems that provoke joint inflammation.

The condition can lead to significant pain and discomfort that worsens when lying on the shoulder, lifting the arm to the side, pushing on the top of the shoulder, and/or when opening or pushing on a door.
