Hip Fractures

Hip fractures occur when the femur or the top quarter of the thighbone suffers a break. Fractures in the hip are most commonly the result of a serious fall, but other factors, including sedentarism, being underweight, calcium or vitamin D deficiency, or a family history of osteoporosis can increase the likelihood of this injury.

In most cases, hip fractures cause intense pain in the hip/groin area, walking difficulty or inability, and swollen, red, and bruised skin around the injured area.
